Improving Communication with Physicians

Efficient communication with physicians improves clinician satisfaction and patient care

CommunicationCHAMP's Improving Communication with Physicians course is designed for home care nurses who are interested in improving their efficiency and confidence when communicating with physicians about complex patient situations. 

The course helps you to:

  • Identify who to communicate with depending on the circumstances
  • Determine how communication will occur
  • Use methods for making communication more effective including the SBAR technique
 
Improved communication results in:
  • Increased collaboration between home care clinicians and physicians
  • Increased satisfaction among clinicians and physicians
  • Improved patient care

This course can be completed on your office computer -- there is no need for travel.  It contains clinical vignettes, downloadable/reusable tools, and exercises to help you improve your communication around complex patient issues.  A competency test and final course evaluation are required.

 
About the Course

Tuition: $49 per participant. $35 per participant if your agency is a member of one of the state home care associations listed at right.

Continuing Education Hours: 4.0 continuing education contact (CE) hours are awarded to registered nurses upon completion.
